Multi Award Winners are launching the first Aboriginal Art Solo-Exhibition by Janet Milera at ASSP Gallery Port Adelaide

ASSP Gallery Port Adelaide is host of the first solo exhibition by Janet Milera, a member of the MileraSansburyWanganeen families. The confirmed speakers of the free public launch on Saturday 1st April at 1.30pm are listed below.

Janet’s exhibition Bookyanna Dreaming does convey the great affection for her connection with her land and her ancestors. She loves painting a wide variety of Aboriginal animals and dot paintings.

Centrepiece of the exhibition will be a nearly life size special painting of an emu which will be unveiled at the exhibition launch.

Here what the artist says:

“Growing up as a child my father would always took my siblings and myself out on the land and teach us how to hunt for food, where to look for food, and to look after the land because that’s where our ancestors had lived. My inspiration for the artworks I create has been influenced by my family as well as the knowledge and insight that my father taught me as a child, it also has influenced my connection to the land and his dreamtime stories.”
